Dhaka, March 14 – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has assured Bangladesh of the UN’s full support during its ongoing reforms and transformation. He made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (March 14).
Guterres expressed gratitude to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the people of Bangladesh for their warm hospitality.
He stated, "At this critical time of reform and transformation, the United Nations stands with Bangladesh in building a sustainable and equitable future."
Earlier in the day, Guterres held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Affairs Adviser Tawhid Hossain at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka.
He later met with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Adviser’s Office.
Following the meeting, both leaders flew to Cox’s Bazar on the same aircraft.
The UN chief and Dr. Yunus are scheduled to inspect:
The under-construction Cox’s Bazar International Airport
The Khurushkul Climate Displacement Center
They will also join an Iftar gathering with nearly 100,000 Rohingya refugees in Ukhiya.
Disaster Management Adviser Faruq A. Azam welcomed Guterres in Cox’s Bazar.
